The future looks bright for online gambling in the Netherlands with the sector set to enjoy continuous growth based on the latest figures from the country’s gambling regulator, the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA).
Market Projected to Grow by Up To 15% Each Year
The KSA reported that the Dutch online gambling market generated €90 million in net gaming revenue (NGR) in January 2023, putting it on track to achieve an annual growth rate of between 13% and 15%. The latest results coincide with the KSA’s earlier growth prediction for the sector.
Apart from that, the KSA’s fourth monitoring report also highlights some positive developments in terms of achieving its channelization targets, with the vast majority of Dutch customers now playing only on licensed gambling sites.
As the country’s online gambling market continues to grow, the KSA has reminded operators to take their safer gambling and social responsibility obligations seriously.
In March, the agency extended its duty-of-care investigation to Q2 of 2023 due to major differences in how operators carry out their duty-of-care responsibilities.
Latest KSA Report Shows Positive Stats Regarding Young Players
As per the KSA’s latest report, young people currently own 183,000 of all online gambling accounts in the country, with an average of 2.6 accounts per player. Monthly loss among players aged 18 to 24 is now below the average loss of €54.
