A recent survey has shown that 3% more UK adults participate in gambling activities compared to same period last year.
Yonder Consulting conducted a phone survey on behalf of the UK Gambling Commission. The authority reported that there was a general increase in gambling activity in the sample of 4,018 adults over the age of 16.
Key findings of the report showed:
- In the past 4 weeks, 43.3% of the respondents had participated in at least one form of gambling.
- Males in the 45 – 54-year-old.age group were most likely to gamble.
- More people participated in in-person gambling activities compared to the same period last year, most likely due to less Covid-related restrictions.
- 25.7% of people gamble online.
- The National Lottery remains the most popular form of betting, with 27.2% of the gamblers participating. Betting took up 5.2% and scratch cards another 7.2%|
Problem Gambling Numbers Remain Stable
Despite the increase in the number of Britons who gamble, the report showed that problem gambling numbers remain stable at 0.2%.
Interestingly, there was a statistically significant decline in problem gambling numbers among the male participants in the survey.
