Fans of Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles will be unable to place bets in their home state before the start of the NFL season.
Although the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has given its approval to regulations that will allow sports betting in the state, the market will not go live until after the 2018 American football campaign commences next month.
The state gambling regulatory body has not yet officially set out the new laws, although local media has indicated that the combined 36% tax rate remains.
As yet, no firms have applied for a license under existing laws due to the fact that operators were previously faced with a 34% state tax and 2% local tax which will ostensibly be the same under the latest set of regulations.
However, notwithstanding the high rate remaining in place, it is anticipated that operators will begin to apply for licenses.
According to Penn Live, it has been revealed that operators will be able to take bets on a vast range of sports, including college-level events, although High School sports will be prohibited.
Only punters aged at least 21 years old will be permitted to place bets, while athletes or other team personnel will not be allowed to place wagers on their own games or on the sports that they play.
Pennsylvania punters will also be permitted to place a variety of in-play and proposition bets, pointing to a strong online and mobile focus when the market launches.
This will, clearly, not take place untill at least next month as the regulatory body is not due to meet again until 12th September 2018 and any applications submitted by operators in the interim, will not go through until the next meeting.
