The Uganda Cranes have revealed that they have landed a multi-million sponsorship from Uganda’s newest and most innovative betting company, BetLion that will see the team get a share of the company’s revenue, technical support as well as significant quantities of equipment for the next five years.
BetLion has undertaken to contribute money from each of the sh150m, 13-selection-weekly Cranes jackpots towards football development in the country. It will cost participants sh3000 to play the jackpot.
The five year partnership was unveiled by Oliver Bates, CEO and Managing Director, Lionel Kabenga of BetLion group during a conference attended by a FUFA contingent.
No actual figures were divulged but Bates called it an unprecedented partnership that will see FUFA improving football from the top to the grassroots.
Bates commented that they are thrilled to partner with the Cranes who would like to turn into a global players and they are excited to partner with that vision.
He went on to say that it is a long time multi-million dollar investment that will run up to 2023. He added that they will offer technical support by bringing in coaches in the coming months in order to support the Cranes in their AFCON ambitions and the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
BetLion will also offer football equipment including new kit (playing and training) to the Cranes and the various teams below.
Justus Mugisham, who represented FUFA president, said they were thrilled to get another partner of repute which has been enabled by the good brand they had built at FUFA and the Cranes.
