The National Football League (NFL) has signed a lucrative deal with Sportradar. Since 2015, Sportradar has been the sport league’s exclusive provider of official play-to-play statistics. The data was distributed to media outlets. However, the new deal allows Sportradar to distribute the content to gambling operators, especially sports betting platforms. Sportradar will also be allowed to use its advanced integrity monitoring product to keep an eye on suspicious betting activity in NFL games.
The NFL is in fact an investor in Sportradar. The group pays the league around $5 million each year for distribution rights.
David Lampitt, the managing director of sports partnerships for Sportradar, said in an interview this week that “the NFL is an iconic global brand and an iconic global sports property. This is a landmark deal for us.”
The NFL’s Media Executive Vice President complimented Sportradar for being an “excellent” partner over the last four years, providing the league, its teams and the media marketplace with innovative data products. He said that the NFL looks forward to working with Sportradar to deliver fast, accurate official league data that will innovate and improve experiences for its fans across all platforms.
This is Sportradar’s fourth official deal with a major sports league. Recently, it inked a $250 million deal to become the NBA’s official sports betting distributor over the next six years.
