The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has announced that it will open four consultations this July as part of the Gambling Act Review. It will be followed by a second tranche of consultations which will be launched by the end of 2023, according to the Commission’s Executive Director on policy development, Tim Miller.
Initial Consultations to Focus on Four Subjects
In his latest blog post on the UKGC website, Miller shared an update on their ongoing work for the implementation of the White Paper recommendations, confirming that they will proceed with publishing the first set of consultations in July. The consultations will tackle age verification in premises, direct marketing and cross-selling, remote games design, and financial risk and vulnerability checks for remote operators.
These four will be accompanied by two more consultations that are not connected to the White Paper but are considered key subjects by the UKGC – rules around Personal Management Licences and procedures for Regulatory Panels.
Second Tranche of Consultations to Open in late Autumn
Major consultations such as those related to the White Paper would take around 12 weeks to complete, which means the initial set of consultations will close in October. In late autumn, the Commission will launch the second tranche of consultations which will focus on socially responsible inducements and gambling management tools.
